Youth Festival - The Best Part of College Life
Guys in above photo are very lucky. This is photo of Youth festival organized by Gujarat University in Ahmedabad. When I read the news & saw photos of ongoing youth festival in newspapers, my all memories of college life got refreshed. According to me Youth Festival is the best part of college life. It is the platform to show your talent & learn many things. Agar aap collegian ho aur youth festival enjoy nahi kiya , to kuch nahi kiya.
Youth festivals organized by Gujarat University are generally 3-4 days long. More than 1000 students of 45+ colleges take part in Various competitions are organized in the Youth Festivals. To name a few, Skit, Mime, Group singing, Group Folk dance & western dance, on the spot painting, on the spot poetry competition, debate, quiz, poster making etc.
I had taken part in Folk Dance, group singing, Poetry competition during my college days. Poetry Completion (padpurti ) is unique amongst these. In PADPURTI , Contestants are given 1 line in Hindi , Gujarati & English, Contestants are required to complete the poem from 2nd line , Time given for this event is 30 minutes only.
We were given this line ...
" Tu Nathi to , Jagat Ma kai nathi" Means , " World is nothing if u r not there."
Most the participants including myself continued this poem & wrote a romantic one. But there was one guy from Sahjanand college who shown what the innovation is. He taught us what is Out of Box thinking. He defined what the Creativity is. He wrote that poem for his Mother.
I learnt many things by participating in Youth festivals. It was really exciting & pool of such a great talent together. The important thing is to watch, enjoy & learn from the performances of students from other colleges in various competitions. MIME is my alltime favourite competition. I have never taken part in MIME. But Watching MIME is an excellent experience. Mimicry , Monoacting & Extempore are another great competitions.
Then comes result time. Generally 4-5 selected colleges like Xaviers , Gujarat College , Sahjanand College , SM Patel , JG , used to win most the prizes in the Gujarat University Youth Festival. My college (L.J.Institute of Business administration) has won only 2-3 prizes in last 3 youth festivals. However I still believe that participating in these type of Youth Festivals is not less than winning.
I can only write about these events as I m no longer a student of Gujarat University. I had graduated in 2005. I can not participate as audience too. You need to participate in 1 activity at least in order to enjoy Youth festival. Koi Baat nahi. MBA mein Admission Ho jaye tab Part Lunga .
